Scotto Partners is advising Doctrine's management team in connection with its acquisition by RELX

Scotto Partners advised Doctrine's management team in connection with the conclusion of an agreement for its acquisition by RELX from Summit Partners and the group's other partners.

Founded in 2016 and based in Paris, Doctrine has established itself as a leading platform for legal intelligence and artificial intelligence for legal professionals in continental Europe. The company combines a comprehensive, proprietary corpus of case law, legislation, and regulatory content specific to civil law jurisdictions with a suite of AI tools designed for legal research, drafting, and analysis. Its platform is used daily by legal professionals in France, Italy, Germany, and Spain.

The proposed transaction would enable RELX to significantly strengthen its presence in continental Europe and accelerate the rollout of generative and agent-based artificial intelligence solutions tailored to the specific characteristics of civil law systems. The solutions developed by Doctrine would, in particular, complement LexisNexis Protégé, the personalized legal assistant recently launched by the group.

This transaction marks a new milestone in Doctrine’s development, as it partners with a leading international player while continuing on its path of growth and innovation.

The Scotto Partners team, which works alongside management, consists of Adrien Badelon, Jérôme Commerçon, Julie Herzog, and Bertrand Thibaut (Partners), as well as Sarah Dussaud, Alex Lecoeur, Thibaut Sitoleux, and Alban Tourneux (Associates).

Latham & Watkins also advised Summit Partners on the transaction, while Freshfields advised RELX.
