Scotto Partners is advising Doctrine's management team on Summit Partners' acquisition of a majority stake
Press Release
Doctrine, the French legaltech company behind the leading legal intelligence platform, has welcomed the U.S. investment firm Summit Partners as a majority shareholder, as well as Peugeot Invest—the Peugeot family’s family office—which is taking a minority stake. The management team, led by CEO Guillaume Carrère, along with nearly 80% of Doctrine’s workforce, are investing alongside them as part of this round.
A pioneer in artificial intelligence for the legal field, Doctrine has been developing a legal intelligence platform since 2016 that centralizes, contextualizes, and automates the processing of legal information for legal professionals. This added value has already won over nearly 11,000 clients, including attorneys and legal professionals.
Since its founding in 2016, Doctrine has raised funds only once—€12 million—and has seen its revenue increase 20-fold in five years. With this new transaction, Doctrine will be able to benefit from the support of experienced partners, enabling it to strengthen its position as an innovative leader in the legal world.
“We made the decision to pursue profitable growth very early on, and that has shaped our company and our culture. We are still in the very early stages of our journey. We will continue to develop innovative, value-driven solutions for legal professionals in France and around the world. Summit Partners’ expertise will help us support our growth and build a leader in the legal tech industry,” said CEO Guillaume Carrère.
Throughout this transaction, Doctrine’s CEO, Guillaume Carrère, and the management team were advised by Scotto Partners, with a team consisting of Jérôme Commerçon (partner), supported by Rosa Oudni on corporate matters, as well as Nicolas Vaccà on tax matters and Alban Tourneux on labor and employment matters.
Other legal advice:
Latham Watkins (Simon Lange and Gaetan Gianasso) advised Summit Partners.
Jonesday (Alexandre Wibaux and Charles Gavoty) advised the founders and sellers.
